WHO'S WHO

My name is Bob Quinn and I'd like to personally welcome you to my website. Many people ask me "Bob, do you ever get tired of people constantly asking you about how to best manage their finances". In one simple word: no.

I established myrecession.ie in September 2009 for this very reason. I have been on both sides of the fence and in my early twenties made some poor decisions that have forced me into debt. These were decisions made due to the easy availability of credit. If I knew then what I know now...

I like to use the line that 95% of the people that work in financial services give the rest of us a bad name, but at the same time, it's more to do with the fact that we have traditionally put these "bankers" in an elitist class. Remember these two simple points - most worked for large corporations that had massive budgets to convince us they knew what they were talking about. And secondly; it was always about bottom line. When you walked into your bank, you met with a sales person, not a financial adviser.

Personally I like to refer to myself as a money expert. Why? It sounds a bit arrogant after all, but it's because of what I can do for people. Let me give you an easily understandable analogy. When you go to the doctor, it doesn't matter if you have a common cold or are on death's door. You trust that your doctor can deal with all illnesses and diseases. Some of these illnesses can be quite embarrassing or the type of thing you don't want to share with your nearest and dearest, but your doctor is a professional and he understands. If he can't deal with your illness in his surgery, what does he do? He'll refer you to a specialist. That's the space I work in.

Consider me like a friendly doctor. I can look at every aspect of your personal finances and there is nothing that shocks or surprises me. I understand that people might get themselves into tricky financial predicaments or, at times, just make bad decisions because of a lack of knowledge or through a rushed decision. How am I different to the rest? I guarantee nothing but straight forward and easy to understand advice. No selling, just telling you as it is.

On that point, when your bank offers you a free financial review did it ever strike you that they are not making any money from that? Yet 9 times out of 10 you'll walk out of the bank with a new savings account, topped up life cover or some difficult-to-understand long term savings plan. That's where they make their money!

Now, let's put the doctor analogy to the test. If your doctor is free for the consultation but the drug companies pay him a percentage of the medication he prescribes to you AND some companies pay him more than others, whos interest do you think he'll put first? After all, your doctor is entitled to earn a living. Just compare the two types of doctors. Who do you feel more trusting of?

Exactly

Just a little bit about me. I'm in my late 20's and have spent the past 5 years reviewing client's finances through my service of a personal finances review. I have a BA (hons) in Human Resource Management & Accountancy from National College of Ireland as well as being a Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) and member of the Institute of Bankers.

My guarantee

While there is a cost for personal finances reviews, I can give you two guarantees:

  • I will save you money
  • If I don't, I'll refund my fee to you in full without hesitation.

And because of that, what do you have to lose?

Sounds too good to be true? No. I am that confident that I can save you money that I'm prepared to take the hit. If you are doing everything in a textbook fashion, then I'm sure I can learn from that as well. Either way, we both benefit.

If you'd like to contact me for more information on my range of services, you can do so by dropping me an email at bob@myrecession.ie or calling 087 952 7060.

Thanks & regards

Bob Quinn
